Hello there.
I went to the hospital twice this week. Once for labs and xray and the next day for PFT (breathing test) and a support group meeting. Everything looks good. My small airway function has increased and everything else has stayed the same. Whatever I had is gone now and I am so happy. I may or not happen again, but I am alright with that. The most important thing is that I catch it early so the results are positive.
The support meeting was very enlightening. Jim (social worker) ran the the meeting and Dr Hodges spoke about rejection. I really learned a lot about what I went through last month. I knew what rejection was but I don’t think I knew the physiology, but now I do. The people that attended were both pre and post transplants. I spoke to two pre-transplant patients that are really scared about the surgery and I hope what I said helped. I plan on attending the meetings every month from now on because it is nice to be there with other post-transplants and help the pre-transplants along a bit. The funny thing is that the hospital, not the cardiothoracic team provided orange juice and cookies as a snack and 90% of us are diabetic. Beggars can’t be choosers. Next meeting we are doing a potluck!!
School is going well. I am failing Math, but plan to get as much from the semester as I can in order to pass next time I take it which will be next semester. I can’t drop math because I will lose my finac. aid. The rest of my classes are good, but I am very busy writing lots of essays and studying for tests and quizes. I LOVE it though. I hope that I will be able to stay in school through my Masters in Social Work, but that takes a lot of time! We’ll see.
Hope this entry finds you well and Happy Fall!
