Lung Volume Continues to Increase

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Mandy had a PFT (pulmonary function test) and the news was great. According to the Dr. she is at nearly 90% lung volume. Amazing isn’t it? I finally agree purchasing her bike was a great idea, even though I had many sleepless nights being worried about her getting injured riding on the city streets.

She’s back in the gym exercising, taking palates, yoga and spending time on the treadmill. Her life continues to improve and she gets stronger everyday.

Her volunteer work continues with Voices of Children as an advocate for abused children. I think it’s her way of giving back a little. She seems to really enjoy it, although she has learned not to tell Dad what neighborhoods she’s visiting to check out the homes some of these children reside in. I guess she decided it looked a little funny having your Dad driving behind you.

G’Bob got back home on Wednesday evening and was back to work on Thursday. I think he really enjoyed his visit and the time he got to spend with all of his children, most of his grandchildren and all of his great grandchildren. 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Plus he got to see a few of his long time friends and use his tools a little on our remodeling project..

We are praying that our friend Michael remains strong until his new lungs arrive. He is currently in the hospital. According to Susan (his Mom) he had a very good day yesterday. Please include Michael & Susan in your daily prayers.

G’Bob’s Visit & Other Things

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

G’Bob decided to stay for an extra week or so to help with a remodeling project going on at our house. After 24 years we’ve decided to update the bathroom. What a project it’s become. Why things can’t go easy I’ll never understand. G’Bob has a lot of experience from his years of remodeling and I try to update him on techniques I’ve recently learned and at times I understand why Laurie always said she understood why he moved to Bullhead City :) My brother Kevin was going to come down and help but he fell asleep ….for 6 days? Oh well, we’re getting through it and it’s going to turn out very nice. G’Bob has gotten to spend a lot of time with his great grandchildren, swimming, shopping, and just really enjoying them. It’s a trip each one of them will remember, I’m sure. He spent Sunday with Mandy & Jake going out for breakfast then to church with brother Kenny. Mandy took them by her apartment, it was the first time G’Bob had seen it.

It has been such a great week to see my Dad and just hang out with him. I wish he lived a little closer so we could have more time. He is having so much fun on our project, he actually hates it when our contractor shows up to work and G’Bob has chill out.

Thank you Dad.

Today I’m 32

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Hi there. Well, today is the day that I turn 32 actually right now at 5pm, 32 years ago I was not born. I believe I was a 7 o’clock baby. I picked up my nephews earlier and have brought them to my parents to swim and have fun! G’ Bob is still here from Atlanta and we have all just finished a heated game of spoons! I believe Jacob won; Brat he should have let me win since it is my birthday! My sister and niece are coming up for dinner in about an hour and then hopefully we will play another game of spoons.

I actually forgot it was my birthday until I talked to Chris and she wished me happy birthday. It slipped my mind again until I went to the gym to sign up for a membership. Well, I to think what the date was when it was time to sign the contract and a light bulb when off again that it is June 18th!!! WOW that is commitment joining a gym. The gym is real close to my house and I will be able to ride my bike to and from. I need to utilize it! Club Fitness charges $1 to borrow a towel!  Geez I’ll bring my own.

I am having a really great day– the only way it could be better is if my brother could make it, but he is working.

Th party Sunday

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Hello there. I hope that all you father’s had a great day! The weather was great for an outside party. I loved the entire day except the end. It was one of those days that goes way too fast. The bad times seem to go soooo slow and the good times go too fast.

Thank you to all those that came and enjoyed the yummy food. (We’ll be eating hot dogs and pulled pork for months :)  ) I really appreciate those of you that helped out throughout the day. Some of you didn’t follow the rules and still bought birthday presents –thank you! I know the website and invitations said “no gifts”, but it was really fun for me to open them. There was only one problem though..somehow a few  cards were missing. I received a really cute pair of earrings which were silver (my favorite)from Dillard’s, but there was no card so I am not really sure who to thank. A gift card for Trader Joe’s –my favorite place, but there was no name on it. I’m sorry that I’m asking who to thank, but I want to thank you properly.

I would really like to thank my Mom and Dad for putting together such a wonderful party. I feel like I am the one who should be creating a party for them. They are the greatest parents in the world!!! It’s difficult to explain how much gratitude I feel for them and there are no words to explain how much I love them!! THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!

Thank you for coming — I hope you had a good time!! I DID!
