I have arrived home –

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Even though it wasn’t too horrible to be in the hospital it is still nice to come home to a comfy bed and a television that has information box on the actual tv. You know the box that tells you about the movie or show you are watching, plus when it started. I hate when you catch a show halfway through. Grrrr.

I’d like to thank all of the wonderful nurses, LPNs and doctors that took such good care of me. The 13th floor never, ever ceases to amaze me.

Writing from room 13110

Yes I am writing from the 13th floor at Barnes. I ended up here Weds after vomitting every hour from 8:30pm Tuesday until 3pm Weds. It was awful and I believe it was caused from a sandwich from my new,  favorite deli LeGrand’s that I purchased while on a bike ride. I ate half and place the other half in my bag. I completed my bike ride and placed the sandwich in the refrigerator about a hour and half later.  Big mistake, but the sandwich was so yummy I couldn’t bare to throw it away. I was really stupid! Anyway the vomiting caused dehydration and a MAJOR migraine. After being sick that long I was admitted to the 13th floor where the best nurses ever work. I was given an IV by Kayla who was visiting her husband next door after Violette and Holly were not able to get one. In their defense, I am a really difficult stick and most people have problems. However Kayla is my hero! Oh Kayla is a RN not just some random woman Violeta and Holly found she is usually works on another floor and her husband is waiting for his second transplant. So, after the IV insertion I was given a ton of fluids and morphine for the migraine. Everything has subsided and I feel better, but now I am blocked up if you know what I mean. As soon as I go #2 I should be able to head home - I’ve never been so anxious to go to the bathroom :)

Kayla’s husband and Michael are constantly in my prayers in addition to my other friends and acquaintances who are ill! I hope that you also send out your thoughts and prayer for them and others. I would also encourage you to sign your donor card and try to raise awareness whenever you can. Thanks!!!

The Worm Wranglers

Yes, it’s true Ma Ma Laurie and Pa Pa Frank are now “Worm Wranglers”. What is a WW you ask? Someone who has over 1,000 red wigglers living in their home.

Jake decided he wants to raise worms, but they (the worms) want to stay over at Ma Ma & Pa Pa’s, so they sleep, eat and poo in their little ranch farm, located under the micro wave table in the kitchen.

Less than 10 feet away from where we cook and eat our meals. They are kind of cool because we can recycle our coffee grounds, coffee filters, green foods, newspaper, cardboard and they don’t smell. Did you know worms eat as much as they weigh every day? They also have the best of both worlds being they are both male and female.

Of course hearing Laurie at two in the morning screaming “they’ve escaped” and then flushing them to a watery grave, may require us to start digging up replacements out in the yard.

ps Only 10 got flushed, they evidently decided to make a break for it……….

Someone is turning 9 and it’s not me!
